History of Aphrodisiacs

Aphrodisiac HistoryThe word aphrodisiac has its origin in Greek Mythology.

The Greek goddess of love, Aphrodite, was desired by all men. The word aphrodisiac was derived from this lusty beauty. Greek culture studied the effects of different aphrodisiacs. The Druids, who also used potions and single aphrodisiacs in their rites, were intent on using nature and believed only naturally occurring things were good.

Aphrodisiacs have been used throughout the ages by magicians and simple men and women alike. The many types of aphrodisiacs have been used and still are used for rituals, spells and pleasure. Ancient people knew about herbal, plant and animal aphrodisiacs and concoctions made from several types of mixtures and combinations that they used for everything from mystical rites to infertility.

Over the years modern man has lost much of the knowledge how to use natural aphrodisiacs and has turned to synthetic, sometimes dangerous, alternatives. The side effects and physical damage done by using unnatural products cannot be stressed enough. Why would a person choose to use harmful products or fake means when seduction and sensual pleasure can be induced by natural and enjoyable methods?

But please remember, anything can become harmful if abused, and natural (and synthetic) aphrodisiacs can have dangerous outcomes if used in excess or overdosed.
